THE KITCHEN – NOW STREAMING

THE KITCHEN, from directors Kibwe Tavares & Daniel Kaluuya, comes to streaming on Netflix!

The film takes place in a dystopian vision of London’s future, where all social housing has been eliminated. Kane Robinson plays Izi, who alongside his young mentee Benji fight to navigate ‘The Kitchen’ district, a world of hardship and heartbreak in a community which refuses to abandon their homes despite pressure from the state and the tough life on the streets.

Director of Photography Wyatt Garfield shot the film, which is the feature-length directorial debut of both Tavares and Kaluuya.

THE KITCHEN premiered as the closing gala film of the 67th BFI London Film Festival. The film starts streaming January 18th, 2024 only on Netflix.

American Cinematheque – 3rd Annual Tribute To The Crafts

This Thursday, American Cinematheque revealed honorees for its 3rd Annual Tribute To The Crafts.

These awards honor those who have exhibited extraordinary work behind the camera over the past year. Honorees were selected by a jury of cinephiles, film historians and journalists from the country’s most respected outlets.

Franz Lustig will be recognized for his achievement in documentary cinematography on Wim Wenders’ new 3D film, ANSLEM.

The gala event will be held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on January 19th, 2024.

LES PRIX AFC – Nominations Announced

The French Society of Cinematographers have announced the nominees for the 1st edition of their Prix AFC.

Denis Lenoir, AFC, ASC received a nomination for Series Best Picture alongside collaborator Yorick le Saux for their work on IRMA VEP (S1, Ep. 7) “The Spectre”, from HBO & A24, directed by Olivier Assayas.

The winners will be announced on February 7th, 2024.

AACTA Awards – Nominations Announced

Steven Jones Evans, APDG has been nominated for Best Production Design In a Film by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts for their 2024 AACTA Awards.

Steven was recognized for his outstanding design of CARMEN, the feature directorial debut of dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied. He transforms the classic opera into a balletic journey of one woman on a quest to find freedom on a dramatic and life-altering trip from Mexico to Los Angeles.

Winners will be announced during the live broadcast ceremony on February 8th, 2024.

EILEEN – IN THEATERS

EILEEN, from director William Oldroyd, opens December 1st in NYC and LA

Based on the 2015 debut novel by Otessa Moshfegh, the film is set during the winter of 1964, when a young prison office secretary, Eileen, is taken with the glamorous counselor Rebecca. Their budding friendship takes a twisted turn when Rebecca reveals a dark secret — throwing Eileen onto a sinister path.

Craig Lathrop designed EILEEN, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

More screens will be added on wide release, December 8th, 2023.

 

THE SWEET EAST – IN THEATERS

THE SWEET EAST is the feature directorial debut of Sean Price Williams!

The film stars Talia Ryder alongside Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi, Jeremy O. Harris, Simon Rex, and more in a surreal drama undertaken through the cities and woods of the US’ Eastern seaboard.

Lillian, a high school senior from South Carolina, gets her first glimpse of the wider world on a class trip to Washington, D.C.

The film made waves at its world premiere during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight section and also screened as part of the 61st New York Film Festival and many other festival worldwide.

Utopia opens the film this Friday, December 1st in New York City with a roadshow to follow in select cities with the cast & crew.

FARGO – NOW STREAMING

“When is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?”

FARGO, the hit FX anthology from creator Noah Hawley returns to North Dakota this November with a stellar new cast, and a story taking place in the not-too-distant past of 2019.

Jon Hamm and Joe Keery star father-son as Roy and Gator Tillman, alongside Juno Temple, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and more.

Pete Konczal, ASC shot episode 5, “The Tiger” and episode 6, “The Tender Trap” with director Dana Gonzalez and scripts by Noah Hawley and Bob De Laurentiis.

MAY DECEMBER – NOW IN THEATERS

Director Todd Haynes returns to cinemas with his new film MAY DECEMBER, shot by Cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt.

The story takes place twenty years after a notorious tabloid romance, as the now-married couple buckle under pressure when a Hollywood actress meets them to do research for a film about their past. Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman star alongside Charles Melton in this discomforting, enthralling watch.

MAY DECEMBER had its premiere at the 76th Annual Cannes Film Festival where it was nominated for the Palme d’Or and acquired by Netflix. The film also played as the Opening Night Film at the 61st New York Film Festival.

Catch it in select theaters across the U.S and streaming on Netflix December 1st.
