TIMBUKTU SHOT BY SOFIAN EL FANI IS NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR FOR BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

Timbuktu is the first film ever submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from the small African country of Mauritania.  It tells the story of an Islamic Jihadist takeover in Northern Mali and stems from the true story of a couple stoned to death in the region.
