CASSANDRO – IN THEATERS

CASSANDRO is the first scripted film from Academy Award-winning director Roger Ross Williams for Amazon Studios.

Based on the real-life story of Saúl Armendáriz, CASSANDRO follows an amateur wrestler from El Paso, Texas as he rises to international stardom when he creates the character of “Cassandro”, becoming the ‘Liberace of Lucha Libre’. In the process he upends not only the macho wrestling world, but his own life.

Director of Photography Matías Penachino shot the film, which premiered at Sundance 2023.

Gael García Bernal leads a cast that includes Raúl Castillo, and Bad Bunny – in theaters September 15th, and streaming September 21st, 2023 on Prime Video.
